Happy New Year!
As we usher in 2009, the Oakland Small Schools Foundation is right where it wants to be: in the middle of a promising school year. As you’ll read in our winter newsletter, we’re doing more than ever with our Oakland schools. Our story on page 2 about the OSSF-supported digital media program at EXCEL highlights just one of the ways we’re helping. In September, 15 teachers shared their experiences in our inspiring Teacher Fishbowl (see page 3), giving 75 community members a rare look inside the urban classroom. Check out the newsletter here!
In this new year we also ask for your help. In this rollercoaster economy, we understand how tight money is. Sadly – and now more than ever – it's the same for our schools. For each $1 the community invests in OSSF, we have raised $5 for schools. When you donate to OSSF, you are supporting more than 12,000 public school children who need a great school, high school diplomas, and all the opportunities they deserve. Last April, we kicked off a fund drive hoping for $50,000 in donations, and thanks to your help (see our Supporters List), we made it halfway.
Please help us today to meet our annual goal of $50,000. Click here to make a donation. Thank you for your support!
