Oakland Schools Foundation Introduces New Executive Director Dan Quigley, former PG&E Director of Charitable Contributions, joins OSF this month

March 15, 2010

Oakland, CA — The Oakland Schools Foundation (OSF) has hired Dan Quigley as its new Executive Director, OSF's Board of Directors announced at the non-profit organization's Principal Fishbowl Education Forum.

"With our recent transition from Oakland Small Schools Foundation to Oakland Schools Foundation, the organization needs a leader who will come in and make sure we don't miss a beat," says Board President Jonathan Klein. "After a rigorous search, we're confident we've found the right person in Dan Quigley."

"I'm honored and excited to join the team during a time of such dynamic growth for the organization," says Quigley. "I look forward to helping OSF support more and more public schools across Oakland."

Dan Quigley has most recently been the Director of Charitable Contributions at PG&E, where since 1995 he managed the company’s charitable, volunteerism, and workplace-giving programs. He has also done policy and program development at PG&E, as well as at the U.S Department of Energy and the International Energy Agency. As a member of the Teacher Corps for two years in the 1970s, he taught second grade in inner-city Louisville and earned an M.A. in Education from the University of Kentucky. Dan has a B.A. in Economics from Stanford University, and is both a native of Oakland and a graduate of the Oakland public school system.

About the Oakland Schools Foundation
Founded in 2003 as the Oakland Small Autonomous Schools Foundation, OSF is the only private non-profit organization focused on securing and managing resources and providing expert support services for Oakland public schools that serve primarily low-income students. The organization became the Oakland Schools Foundation in February 2010 to widen its reach and support its mission of promoting excellence for all Oakland students. OSF has helped a network of 40 schools raise more than $10 million over the last five years.
