After-School Academic Interventions Collaborative
OSF supports schools' efforts to develop results-driven after-school intervention programs in English Language Arts and Math. Now in its fourth year, the collaborative is made up of nine schools and is funded by The Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation and other foundations.
OSF hosts quarterly meetings for program leaders to share best practices, report on their progress with students, discuss data management and assessment strategies, and share ideas on program design and implementation. The schools benefit from peer supports and feedback, and from the program monitoring and evaluation that help them stay on track, execute successful programs, and get the results they have promised for their students. In addition to numerous site-based interventionists and academic liaisons, OSF partners with Alternatives in Action, Oakland Leaf, and Aspiranet on this project.
Through this project, the schools have targeted 350 students collectively for interventions each year, demonstrating significant academic results. In 2008-09, this collaborative of schools outpaced District and State growth on the California Standards Test (CST). For more detailed results, you can download this chart comparing OSF ASP Collaborative, OSSF, District-wide, and Statewide growth on the CST from 2007-08 to 2008-09.
