Allendale Elementary School serves 475 students in grades pre-K-5 on our campus in East Oakland's Allendale Park district. Our students are 37 percent African-American, 33 percent Latino, 12 percent Asian, 4 percent White, 1 percent Pacific Islander, and 7 percent Other. 80 percent receive free or reduced-price lunch, and 42 percent are English-language learners.
Our Mission and Vision
Allendale's mission is to establish a community and an environment of learning, trust, and respect. Our safe and clean campus is a place where highly qualified teachers partner with dedicated families and community members to support high achievement and whole-child learning for our students.
Our Achievements
• On the strength of our California Standards Test (CST) gains, Allendale's Academic Performance Index (API) score has risen steadily in recent years. In 2010 our API climbed 42 points to reach 786.
• In Math, we posted double-digit percentage-point gains in students moving into Proficient and Advanced levels on the CST, and we achieved similar growth in English Language Arts.
• In 2010, Allendale had the highest body mass index reduction in OUSD which can be attributed to our environmental education, exercise and nutrition program, class hikes, a healthy salad bar managed by students and parents, and our garden program.
